People of the Sun celebrates the richness of heritage and the brilliance of presence that lives in every shade of skin. Inspired by light, lineage and cultural memory, this work honours the beauty we carry even when we have not been taught to see it. Each portrait reflects not only colour and form, but a deeper recognition of self — a reminder that our stories, histories and identities are vibrant, complex and worthy of being witnessed.

Afrassa’s portraits celebrate the people of the sun with rich, radiant skin and honest, direct gazes. Through bold colour and layered surface, the work honours skin as living texture and identity, capturing presence, resilience and the powerful tension of being seen.
